Just learned of Leo's death from the Yale G&G newsletter. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I remember Leo and your family so fondly, as I was Leo's field assistant at YBRA in Red Lodge during the summer of 1976. That was the year that the BBC filmed "The Asteroid and the Dinosaur" with us, around the Bighorn Basin. It was a summer full of fun and adventure - and root beer floats from A&W, courtesy of Leo's generosity, at the end of each long, hot field day. I often think of him with the fondest memories. Best regards, Julie Galton

We are so very sorry for your loss. We only had the pleasure to visit with Leo a few times but we were struck by his passion for life and devotion to his students. Our son, Daniel had the good fortune to be mentored and befriended by Leo. The influence he had on Dan was enormous. We will forever be grateful to him. He clearly left an indelible mark on the lives of many; including those who who knew him best through their children.
Most sincerely,
Linda and David Peppe

My condolences to you and your family. I was a student of Henry Andrews and remember how fondly Henry spoke of Leo and respected his work. It was a great pleasure to have been able to meet Dr. Hickey when he came to New Haven to work at the Peabody. I know he will be surely missed by all who knew him. Sincerely, Jeff Granoff
