MARTIN SAMSCHICK Obituary

SAMSCHICK

MARTIN, June 12, 2015, age 84 passed peacefully with his loving family by his side. Martin, or Marty, as he was known, was a fixture on 4th and Bainbridge, seen daily at Famous Deli, and well known for baking the delicious cookies from Famous 4th street Cookie Company. Marty had long standing relationships with politicians, business owners, and drifters alike. Those who knew him well knew better then to greet him with a standard "hi". Because that salutation was met with a "Ive never been high in my life". Also, goodbye was never an option. "Ill see you later" was what Marty expected to hear. Marty is survived by his children Susan, Michael (Melissa) and Jackie Palagruto. Also survived by grand-children, Marc, Anthony, Jason, Austin, Cole, Lucas, and Jagger, and great grandson Graham. He leaves behind his sister Norma, nephews, nieces, cousins, and an enormous amount of friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Memorial Services Wed. 10 A.M. at GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL SACKS, 6410 N. Broad St. Shiva will be observed Wednesday, at the home of Michael and Melissa Samschick. Contributions in his memory may be made to SPCA.

My buddy Mart was the best. He was so close to our family that I allways knew him as uncle Marty. Many fond memories of him. I remember once when I was about 11 or 12 years old, he took time out of his day to drive me to get a part for my mini bike.
But thats just the way he was. He would help anyone.

I can say without a doubt if anyone is in heaven marty is one of them. I love you mart.

Popples, Thank you so much for all of the love, kindness, and joy you brought to Jackie, Evan, and Jagger's life. Evan always talked about what a great time he had with you, at Phillies games, out to dinner, or just hanging out. You really were a father to him---and such a good father to Jackie and Grandpop to Jagger. You really will be missed, Popples. May every blessing bestow on your soul....and may your memory live on in the hearts of those who love you.

Marty,
Words can not express how much you are going to be missed. For the past ten years you have been a huge part of my life and buzz's life to. How we both looked forward to spending time with you at breakfast especially all of the insults that were thrown buzz's way ( what a good sport). Even though it was understood That breakfast would be at 830 I made sure I called you at 8 or you would call me and our greeting would be Hello Newman and your response would be Hello buddy see you soon. Our time at the deli will not be the same and probably boring without your presence. I am going to miss you and your memory will live with me the rest of my life.

LOVE,
BOBBY

I met Marty a few years ago. He had breakfast with my husband, his partner Bobby, Jim & Dave (Police Officers). My husband Ed Buzniak had a very special relationship with Marty & when we met, Marty treated me like he had known me forever. We went to a baseball game last year and we had a lot of fun because of his humor. When I called my husband every morning, they would all be at the deli having breakfast, laughing & joking. I would sometimes talk to Marty & he would always say he "loved me" & I would say the same. I will definitely miss his jokes, laughter & his great sense of humor. Rest in Peace My Dear Friend.
