Maxine Stutman Obituary

Maxine Alyce (Nee Buckman) Passed away peacefully on November 17, 2020, after bravely facing Parkinson's Disease. Beloved wife of Asher. Loving mother of David, Richard (Jody), Judy (Paul) Izes, and Michael. Devoted grandmother of Alexa, Jessica, Amanda, and Rebecca. We recall the memory of Maxine's parents Rose and Charlie, and her sisters Annette (Ellis) Silberman and Rhoda (Morris) Lempert who gave her the nickname Mick as a child. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews as well as many, many loving friends. Maxine was a fierce supporter of education, teaching for decades at Strawberry Mansion Junior/Senior High School, followed by years of relentlessly representing the interests of her fellow school district employees with the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers. Maxine was also a fixture in the community, attending Temple Sinai congregation for over forty years and supporting local politics. She was a staunch defender of the rights of those who couldn't defend themselves. Services and interment private. Maxine's family respectfully requests contributions in her memory may be made to the Parkinson's charity of your choice or Temple Sinai, 1401 Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025, www.tsinai.com. www.goldsteinsfuneral.com

My deepest sympathy to the family. Maxine was a wonderful PFT staff representative, and I worked closely with her when I taught at Germantown High School. Maxine was always caring and responsive, and was a great role model for all of us in the education profession. She has provided a great legacy of learning, and will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Thinking of you at this time. Although I have not met any of you, I can imagine how wonderful your family is based on the person Maxine was; loving, warm, kind and caring. I hope those memories bring you some happiness at this time.

I am so saddened by Maxine’s passing. I was new to unionism around the same time I was new to parenting in the 90s. Maxine was a warm and welcoming resource for both these roles. She never failed to ask for my wife and kids and was a steadying presence during especially turbulent times. May she Rest In Peace and May her memory be a blessing.

She was a very nice individual. I remember working with her when I was a substitute with Kelly services before working directly with the school district. She will be missed.

Dear Asher, Judy, Michael, David, Richard and all your families, It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of your wife, mother and grandmother. We don't need to tell you what a wonderful woman she was but we would like to share a very personal memory to demonstrate how wonderful she was to others.
Thirty years ago, our cousin, Maxine took time away from her large family, busy career and involvement with her community and synagogue to help us with our son, Michael. She not only gave advice, but she came with us to parent teacher conferences and schoolboard meetings to ensure that Michael received an appropriate educational placement. Thirty years ago, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was not even a diagnosis but your mother passionately represented our interest on her own time and without payment. She helped to push, pull and sometimes club schoolboards into accepting what was in the best interest of the children. We just wanted to say thank you for lending her to us for a short while. She had a huge impact on our lives.

Dear David, Judy, Richard, Michael & Mr. Stutman - please accept my heartfelt sorrow for the passing of your wonderful wise strong mother and wife. I have many fond recollections of Maxine from earlier times. May each of you draw continuing love and support from one another. Love CA
