MICHAEL, on Oct. 31, 2003, of Mt. Laurel, NJ, age 88 years, beloved husband of Mamie Rose (nee Lolli); devoted father of Ronald R. and his wife Marilee, Michael J., Richard C. and his wife Alicia, and Raymond J. and his wife Wilma; dear brother of Rose Piluso, Sue Miller, Constance Paparella, and the late Angelo Lodato and Lucille Teti; loving grandfather of Ronald, Michelle and her husband Daniel, Aaron, Ava, Richard, Thomas, Matthew, Raymond, Daniel, Nicole and Mark. Mr. Lodato was born in Denver, CO and lived in Sicily as a child, where he won an essay contest and received commendation from the Prime Minister of Italy. He served in the U.S. National Guard and was a bantamweight boxing champion. Upon contracting macular degeneration, a serious eye disease, he moved to South Jersey in the 1950's and established two Italian Delicatessens. In the 1960's he founded Caesars Pasta a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of pasta products. The business continues today under the management of Michael's sons. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral on Wed. from 8:15 AM at the FALCO/ CARUSO & LEONARD PENNSAUKEN FUNERAL HOME, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM at the Church of St. Mary, 2001 Springdale Rd in Cherry Hill. Ent. Calvary Mausoleum, Cherry Hill, NJ. Visitation and Vigil service on Tues. after 7 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Norhampton, MA 01061-0515.
