NED VAN DYKE

VAN DYKE NED Native of the Bronx, NYC, long-time Center City Philadelphia personality – passed away peacefully July 31, 2021. He was 79. Ned is survived by his son, Noah (Kristin), daughter Emily, granddaughter Charlotte Marie and ex-wife Ilene. Ned was one-of-a-kind. A beatnik who marched to his own drum. An educator, poet, philosopher, and comedian. An active member of the local community for 50 years. His second (after his family) most meaningful accomplishment was the creation of the AMY (Alternative Middle Years) schools for the School District of Philadelphia. At his request, Ned's body was donated to medical research. The family has elected not to have a funeral. Donations can be made to Ned's favorite organization, Morris Animal Refuge, or to that of the donor's choice. May he Rest In Peace.
