Slabinski Sucharski Funeral Home, Inc.Josephine Cichonski, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on March 22, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of the late Walter E. Cichonski.
Beloved mother of Walter Jr. (Beth), Mark (Rosemarie), David (Linda), and Jay, and the late Peter and Paul. She is also sadly missed by eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She never met a ball of yarn she couldn’t turn into something beautiful, or a person she couldn’t make feel at home. She had a gift for turning ordinary days into something sweet, often with a little sugar and a lot of butter. She followed her international soap operas with great dedication, proving that love, drama, and intrigue need no translation. She believed every new baby was the best one yet, and somehow made each grandchild and great-grandchild feel like her favorite.
She was also a proud and devoted member of a circle of women whose friendship spanned more than three-quarters of a century. It is a sisterhood built on laughter, loyalty, and showing up for one another through every season of life. She spoke of her sorority sisters with joy and gratitude, carrying their stories, their jokes, and their shared memories close to her heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM at St. John Cantius Church, 4420 E. Thompson St., Philadelphia, PA 19137. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s memory may be made to Autism Cares Foundation, 816 Second Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966, or online at https://autismcaresfoundation.org
