While only a few years younger than Paul he was always someone whom I looked up to, respected and attempted to emulate. He was truly a wonderful person. I will keep Paul, Sally and the family in my prayers. I hope that Paul's family can look back at the wonderful memories they shared and keep them in their hearts for many years to come.

I knew Paul Downey as long as I knew his wife, Sally: from the time Sally and I were freshmen at Rosemont College in the fall of 1961. Paul was always a great part of Sally's life. She talked about him all the time.

When Sally and Paul were engaged the Friday night of our Senior Weekend, Sally entered the room in a green lace dress and showed me her new ring. The photographer took an unforgettable picture of me looking in amazement at my friend's gorgeous new ring. I was so excited for Sally.

I was a bridesmaid at Sally and Paul's wedding, along with Diane Morris Kierniski and Sally's sisters. The weekend was so much fun.

Sally was in my wedding party, too, in July 1971.

I moved to Boston and then to Houston, but always stayed in touch with Sally and Paul. I just e-mailed Sally this past week to congratulate her on 40 years of marriage.

I cannot imagine Sally without Paul. I alway knew them together. But I sense strongly that in many ways he will still always be with her.

We were very sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I've known Paul as long as I've known Sally, and that's a long time!I remember being in their wedding--how elegant we bridesmaids thought we were--and excited to be a part of Paul and Sally's special day. His presence will continue in all of our memories.Nik and I send sympathy and love to Sally. Diane
