PETER KNUTSON Obituary

KNUTSON DR. PETER H. Retired Associate Professor Emeritus of Accounting, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, died at home in Edmonds, WA on Aug. 21, 2021. He was 86 years old. Peter was a professor at the Wharton School from 1965 until his early retirement in 1996, where received several awards for excellence in teaching. Dr. Knutson played an active role in matters affecting accounting policy both in the U.S. and internationally. He was a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) and the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC). He appeared frequently as a speaker, panelist, and spokesman for professional users of financial statements and his professional responsibilities took him to several countries. In 2005, after 40 years in the Philadelphia area, Peter and his wife Susan moved to Edmonds, WA to be closer to family. He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. Donations in Peter's memory may be made to Edmonds Center for the Arts. (edmondscenterforthearts.org)

Professor Knutson was a wonderful teacher and mentor to me at Wharton. He inspired me to push myself to achieve greater things and emphasized self confidence. I will always appreciate his inspirational and coaching abilities.

So sad to hear of Professor Knutson's passing. He was a client of mine..and I booked many overseas trips for him. He was a pleasure to work with..and was one of my FAVORITE clients. My condolences go out to his family. Rest In Peace, Professor Knutson..and in GOD'S Eternal Joy and Peace. I loved our chats so much.
