WHELAN RICHARD QUIGLEY 65, of Merion Station, died March 19, 2021, from cancer. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Virginia (Gina) Jarvis Whelan, sons Denis (Cara Leidy) and Reid (Aleksandra Milinic), grandchildren Foster, David, and Adelaide, brothers Peter (Karen) Whelan II, Franklin (Catherine) Whelan, and paternal uncle Peter Whelan. He is also survived by Gina's siblings and 10 devoted nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his son, Richard Quigley Whelan, Jr. and parents, Albert and Ida (Foster) Whelan.

Peter and Richard were my best friends growing up in Plymouth Meeting. Mr and Mrs Whelan were the best parents one could know.Mr. Whelan would take us fishing, camping and to LBI to surf. We played Basketball and Soccer together through childhood. I have said to myself every July 5th. Happy Birthday Dicky since I can remember. After all these years I will continue to do so. So so sad to lose a person of great character at such a young age. Rick was a great guy and a wonderful husband to Gina and dad to Ricky, Dennis and Reid. He will be missed.
