ROBERT BOYD Obituary
ROBERT WAYNE, JR.
Of Lower Makefield PA, died Tuesday, March 21 2017, at Pickering Manor in Newtown PA. Mr. Boyd was born in Philadelphia PA, on June 4th 1927, the son of the late Robert Wayne Boyd and Margaret Hershey Boyd.
He was raised with his brother, Lee Boyd in Drexel Hill PA, where he graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1945. Upon graduating he was drafted into the United States Army. After completion of his service he opted to forgo a potential professional baseball career and entered the Univer-sity of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, from which he graduated in 1951.
Mr. Boyd married Barbara Spaeth Boyd in 1951, with whom he raised 4 children, in Westwood NJ, where they resided until moving to Yardley PA in 1986.
Mr. Boyd worked in the textile industry including Chicopee Mills and Dundee Mills from which he retired in 1997 after working as the CEO for the company's New York Sales headquarters. Mr. Boyd also served as the President of Westwood Board of Education in the mid 1970's.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife of sixty six years, Barbara Boyd; his 3 sons, Robert, Jeffrey and Gregory Boyd; 5 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren, as well his brother, Lee Boyd of Virginia.
His daughter, Karen, passed away in November 2016.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Boyd will be held on June 3rd at FITZGERALD-SOMMER FUNERAL HOME, 17 S. Delaware Ave., Yardley PA.
