Singh Veena On April 6, 2022 this world lost VEENA SINGH, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend. Veena passed away peacefully in her hometown of Elkins Park surrounded by her husband and children. Born in Modinagar, India on April 3, 1947, Veena was the eldest of five children of Onkari Devi and Satya Pal Singh. She grew up in a bustling, loving household. On August 25, 1968 she married her devoted husband and immigrated to the United States where together they raised four children while navigating the ups and downs of the beautiful life they built, surrounded by friends that became family, nurturing their relationships as paramount above all else. Veena dedicated herself to her proverbial village, maintaining a pulse on everything around her and remaining inextricably linked with her loved ones near and far, imparting life lessons that will always be cherished. She loved movies, music and art. Veena was always reinventing and growing herself, even if it was outside her comfort zone. She was a beloved member of her community and took pride in her work at the Elkins Park Free Library. She was compassionate, fiercely loyal to those she loved and always willing to speak up for what she believed was just and right, the ultimate champion of the underdog and a determined advocate for equality. We mourn the loss of Veena deeply but we follow the example that she created for us throughout her life, to be strong, brave and courageous like she was and to continue to honor her legacy in this way. Veena is survived by her husband of over fifty-three years, Jagbir Singh, and her four children, Rajesh (Tara) Singh, Seema (Ashee) Bhan, Sapna (Vivek) Kundra, and Sikha Singh, her six adoring grandchildren Rahul, Simrin, Arya, Jai, Reva and Mila, her sister Usha Sirohi, her brothers Kushal Pal Singh and Ashok Pal Singh, as well as many friends who were like family. Veena's soul has been reunited with her predeceased parents and her younger sister, Meena Singh.
