Walter André Nacrelli

Nacrelli Walter André July 5, 2025. Born in Chester, PA to Michael and Grace Nacrelli, peacefully passed away at age 87 in San Diego, CA, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Walter's greatest treasure was finding his true love and high school sweetheart, Margaret Jane McNeal (12/21/37 - 1/31/25). Married on June 15, 1957, they began a partnership that would grace this world for decades. Walter is survived by his five children: Susan Jane (Joel Johnson), Daniel Alyn, Donald Andrew (Sheryl Alarcon), Margaret Ann (James Graham), David Albert (Kimberly Conaway), and his 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A shining star of Chester High School's class of 1956, Walter's brilliant mind led him to Temple University to study Pharmacy before he answered the call to serve our nation. In 1957 he entered the Navy, embarking on an extraordinary journey of sacrifice and dedication. Through 34 years of service, Walter poured his heart into the Navy, rising to the esteemed rank of Captain. He commanded numerous military hospitals, earning respect, deep admiration, and heartfelt affection from all that served alongside him. Walter's lifelong passion for learning defined him. A 1969 Cornell University graduate, he went on to earn two master's degrees, embodying his commitment to knowledge and personal growth throughout his military career. Family gatherings were made memorable by Walter's gift for bringing poetry to life. He often recited poems, especially those of Robbie Burns and Robert W. Service, his words painting vivid pictures for all gathered around the table. These moments have become treasured heirlooms in the memory chests of those who had the pleasure of hearing him. Walter's legacy lives on in every laugh shared in remembrance of his quick wit, in every wise word passed down through generations, and in the boundless love that continues to flow from his spirit. Full Military Services honoring Walter's extraordinary life and devoted service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on September 5, 2025 at 1:00PM.
