Dominic Raona Obituary

Dominic Bruno Raona, 86, longtime Oscoda Township resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, with his loving family at his side and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Dominic was born May 13, 1930 in Detroit to Biagio and Pauline (nee Romeo) Raona and graduated from Southeastern High School.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. Following his service to his country, he owned and operated Dominic's Barber Shop in Oscoda for 17 years, retiring in 2006.
Mr. Raona was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Oscoda, and was a lifetime member of Oscoda VFW Post 3735. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie (Jim) Reames of Oolitic, Ind. and Linda (Tom) Featherstone of Midway Location; three sons, Ronald (Laura) Raona of Madison Heights, Gary (Josephine) Raona of Royal Oak and Dominic (Vanessa) Raona of Dearborn; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marlene Carol (nee Luzynski) Raona in 2014; a daughter, Sherie Raona; and three brothers and one sister.
He will lie instate at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19. Interment will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors at 2 p.m.
