Dorothy Bissell Obituary

Dorothy ("Dot") Olson Bissell, 92, of Moscow, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at her home.
Dot was born Jan. 14, 1932 in Detroit to Oke and Sophie Olson. After graduating from Grosse Pointe High School she attended Southern Seminary College in Lexington, Va., where she met her husband, Joseph D. Bissell. They would later divorce.
Dot worked in management at large department stores, including Wanamaker's in Philadelphia and Maas Brothers in Atlanta. She was a Girl Scout leader, trainer and camp director. For most of her career, she worked in trade show management until retiring in 2002.
Dot loved nature, especially birdwatching. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and games including backgammon, scrabble, Bridge, and Mah jongg. She was an avid golfer.
She was active in church leadership at Hope St. John's in Oscoda, until 2020 when she moved to Moscow, where she became a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church where she was warmly embraced by the congregation.
She is survived by her brother, Gerald Olson (Diane) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; her children, Rebecca Soto, of Tucson, Ariz., Sandra Williams (David), of Moscow, Idaho, Joseph Bissell, of Lansing, and Marta Bissell of Lompoc, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
