Gerald Davis Obituary

Gerald E. Davis, 79, of Mikado, formerly of Bay City, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital.
Born June 23, 1934 to Homer James and Mildred Irene (Marble) Davis in Flint, he moved to Bay City at a young age. Gerald served in the United States Air Force and saw action in Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a master sergeant in 1971.
On June 8, 1979, he married Mary Paige in Bay City and they were residents there until moving to Oscoda in 1980 and to Mikado in 1983. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Mikado Post No. 254, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Barton City Aerie No. 4141, Veterans of Foreign Wars Oscoda Post No. 3735, the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Forty & Eight No. 669. He was an avid bingo player and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; eight children, Jeffrey (Pat) Davis of Rochester N.Y., Debra Maxson of Howell, Joy (Todd) Needham of Palmyra Va., Gerald E. (Pam) Davis of Bay City, Trista Davis of Midland, Craig Kostus of Saginaw, Blane (Kim) Kostus of Bay City and Lonnae Kostus of Bay City, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Becky Davis; one sister, Marlene (Judd) Gawne of Burton; and two brothers, Bob Davis of Comins and Guy (Bev) Davis of Rapid River; as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Ann Davis; and one son, Darrell Davis.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Mikado. Graveside services will be Monday, Aug. 5 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bay City at 1 p.m. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln.
