Jacqueline Marie (Spitzer) Moeller, age 98, of Tawas City, passed peacefully in her sleep at home with family around her on Friday, July 30, 2021.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1922 at Bay City Mercy Hospital in Bay City to the late William and Gertrude Spitzer. Jackie graduated from Saint James Catholic School in Bay City.
The former Jacqueline Marie Spitzer married Harold Charles Moeller of Tawas City on Oct. 15, 1944 at the Church of Christ in Toledo, Ohio. She worked for Dow Chemical in Midland, and after marrying Harold, she joined him in the family business of Tawas Recreation and Bowling Lanes in Tawas City for a number of years until they sold the business.
Afterwards she worked for the Michigan State Cooperative Extension Service. Jackie retired from there after 25 years.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother of two children, Gerald Allen Moeller and Kristine Marie Moeller (Coyle). She enjoyed reading books and she loved all kinds. Every day Jackie would watch for birds, especially cardinals and black birds. She truly just loved nature and the beauty of trees.
She became involved in her son Jerry's catering food business of over 40 years. Cooking, helping where she could, and just enjoying being with her family and friends is what Jackie liked best. Her favorite past-times included playing cards and Scrabble, and bowling on leagues.
Above all, Jackie simply was happy just spending time and travelling with her family or going to visit family. She will be forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved her.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Kristine "Kris" M. (Tom) Coyle; daughter-in-law, Joanne Moeller; five grandchildren, Jeff (Tara) Moeller, Ami (John) Hilton, Jennifer (Joel) Ralph, Tara (Fred) Robbins and Jaime (Don) Sloan; eight great grandchildren, Haylie Carroll, Marleigh Moeller, Aliza Moeller, Amaya Flores, Madelyn Ralph, Cadence Ralph, Connor Sloan and Isabella Robbins; many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Moeller; and her son, Gerald Moeller.
She was so appreciative of the wonderful Compassus Hospice Team of West Branch for helping her end of life with comfort and peace. Also family and dear friends, loved ones who helped care for her. God bless you all! She would quote how perfect we were because she was too...... and we'd laugh together and smile. Jackie is best remembered for her always saying "Never lose your sense of humor."
A Catholic graveside committal service is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Tawas City with Father Lawrence Boks officiating. Her family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Those wishing to express their condolences through a memorial donation are encouraged to make a contribution to either the Compassus Hospice of West Branch or to Holy Family Catholic Church in Jackie's name.
