Michael Glancy Obituary

Michael James Glancy (March 26, 1952 - Jan. 26, 2024) was born in Bay City to Robert and Lillian (Parent) Glancy. The family soon moved to Tawas where Mike grew up with his two brothers and the Bay Drive crew of spirited boys. Except for four years at CMU studying business, he lived in Tawas his whole life.
In 1979, Mike met Jane Beauchamp, and they were married six months later. Together they handbuilt a house on Tawas Lake where their life was centered for 44 years. With a focus on hard work, faith and family, they created a beautiful life together.
Mike loved the North and all things that came with it: a career in the aggregate business alongside men he respected, deer hunting every fall, spear fishing and ice hockey in the winter, gardening and cook-outs with family and friends in the summer, jam sessions with his kids and their friends, an ongoing cornhole rivalry with his sons-in-law, and just the simple life in a small town in Michigan.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jane; his four beloved children, Leah, Emily, Maria and Jonathan, and their spouses; as well as 11 treasured grandchildren who couldn't get enough of their "Gampy." He teased them and played with them like the big kid that he was. Mike is also survived by his two brothers, Bob (Laurie) Glancy and Bruce (Lisa) Glancy; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was a pretty amazing guy; kind, generous, fun and funny, he brought out the best in everyone. He had a very fertile mind for mischief, which earned him the grade school title of an "angel with horns." He never missed a chance to orchestrate a practical joke, and loved to laugh. But those who knew him best knew that he drew a firm line on right and wrong, and gave valuable advice, insight and perspective. Mike was a beautiful soul with a big tender heart and a joyful spirit. He will be greatly grieved and deeply missed. The loss to his family is immeasurable.
Please join the family to celebrate the life of Mike at a memorial service where they will share cherished memories at 1 p.m. June 22, 1055 S. Bay Drive, Tawas City. Your presence would mean a lot as the family comes together to remember and celebrate a life abundantly lived.

I am so saddened to read of Mike´s passing, and send to Jane and the entire Glancy family my heartfelt sympathies.
I hold many memories of the early years when I worked with Jane when she first came to the Tawas area, and met Mike. A great couple who loved and respected one another.
Sending you all much love. Laurie Matthews-Goyne

Whether it had been a week or a year since seeing Mike we could pick right up as if no time had passed. We enjoyed hearing his perspective on things and of course, his wonderful stories. When we think of Mike we smile. What better legacy is there?

Dear Mike Glancy Family, I'm saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I was fortunate to get to play a summer of independent baseball with Mike in Tawas and witness what a great teammate and person that Mike was. I would always hear Mike's name mentioned when the indoor ice hockey facility was built across from the Tawas Area high school. Mike has left a positive legacy in the Tawas area that will live well into the future. Sincerely, Mickey Haglund

I've always heard about Mike and always wanted to meet and talk with him. I see his house across the Tawas River from my house everyday. Well I finally got to meet him a couple weeks ago on Rainbow Drive on the lots where Jim Rudel is going to build a house. Mike stopped by to see where all the noise was coming from that he heard from his house. We hit it off good and talked for over an hour. We were about the same age and talked about cutting trees , rock hounding , hunting and doing all sorts of stuff in the area. I was shocked to hear that he passed away . I thought he would have made a great friend. I'm sure he will be sadly missed by many people.

I'm so sorry to see this. Mike was a wonderful guy and will be greatly missed. He was so friendly to everyone he knew. Mike's father grew up with my father and was best man at my parents wedding; so we go back a long ways.
My condolences to his family.
