Susan Carol Vich, age 73, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Susan was born on August 6, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Donald and Dana Goudreau of St. Ignace, Michigan. Susan spent her childhood in St. Ignace graduating from LaSalle High School in 1970. After graduation, she worked at various jobs before moving to Sault Ste. Marie where she worked for Michigan Bell. She met her husband Marshall “Skip” Vich while he was stationed at the Kincheloe Air Force Base. They were married on April 19, 1974. In 1978, Susan joined the Air Force and after eleven years, she had to retire for medical reasons. Upon retirement, they moved to Phillips, Wisconsin.
As a proud veteran, she was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, the Moose and the First Presbyterian Church of Phillips, Wisconsin. Susan attended Central Michigan University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design. Susan had many hobbies and really loved crafting. Her favorite craft was making greeting cards.
She became a resident at the Community Living Center in the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center when her health began to fail. She led the Resident’s Committee and represented them on any changes impacting the residents. She enjoyed visiting with her fellow residents, playing Bingo and participating in the resident outings. Each holiday, she would make cards and hand deliver them to the residents. She was well known and well liked. She always had a smile and something sparkly on– she lived by the “Sparkle Code!” She was also a Green Bay Packer fan. The Staff and residents were like a special family to her. She was blessed to have received such fantastic care.
Susan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Marshall “Skip” Vich, stepson, Jeff (Dawn) Vich, two grandchildren, Jonathon and Matthew. She has nine siblings: DJ (Patty) Goudreau, Gary (Gwen) Goudreau, Michele Paquin, Sandra Thorton, Andrea (Ted) Tamlyn, David (Cathy) Goudreau, Mary (Kelly) Morairty, Aimee (Dave) Swanson and Laura (Wayne) Flatt, 12 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews and nephews.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Dana Goudreau, father-in-law Alvin Vich, and brother Bernard J. Goudreau.
