Gary Wayne Thieme passed away in North Carolina on November 16th, 2025. He was born on July 27th, 1950, in Phillips, Wisconsin, to John and Eva (Talley) Thieme. Gary was a May 21st, 1968, graduate of Phillips High School. He went on for two years to the University of Madison where he majored in astronomy. In a career move Gary graduated on May 26th, 1982, earning an associate degree from NTCI in Laser Technology. He took the position as head of the laser department for General Motors University (Kettering University) in Flint Michigan, working there until he retired.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Helen Geno, Gregory Thieme, Mary (Kate) Meissner, and Wanda Thieme. Gary is preceded in death by both parents John and Eva Thieme. Gary with his intelligence, kindness and generosity will be sorely missed. We love you Gary, you will live on in our hearts. Gary will be laid to rest by his family in a private service at 10:00 A.M. on June 13th, 2026, at the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips WI.
