Anderson, South Carolina - Alicia Barnwell Hancock Hack, 80, of Anderson, SC passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Rainey House - Hospice of the Upstate.
She was born in Savannah, GA to Josiah Oakes Hancock Sr. and Alice Barnwell "Johnnie" Sinkler Hancock. In 1966, she married Orion Davis Hack, Sr. who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother Josiah Oakes Hancock Jr. and her son, Orion Davis Hack Jr. She is survived by her daughter Mary Alicia "Molly" Hack Liska (son-in-law Nick Liska); four grandsons - Cal Liska, Orion Davis Hack III, George Hack and Courtland Hack; two special granddaughters - Tatiana Schaertl and Sally Hancock; two nephews - Frederick C. Hack Jr. and Orion Byron Hack; two nieces - Avary Hack Doubleday and Susan Hancock Driggers along with a host of cousins.
She grew up in Savannah where she made her debut in 1959 and spent her summers roaming Bluffton, SC and the May River. She raised her family on Hilton Head Island, SC and was actively involved in the community as a HH Gator Football Coach, member of Sweet Adelines, First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Community Theater and an overall supporter of the Arts. She and Orion Sr. owned and operated The Tropical Patio and were avid Environmental activists. She later became a top Saleswoman for Modern Classic Motors. Then she moved to Anderson, SC where she sold real estate on Lake Hartwell, became a pillar of Grace Episcopal Church as a member of the choir, Director of the children's choir and gave her heart and time to the elderly in the upstate.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Grace Episcopal Church, 711 S. McDuffie St, Anderson, SC, with Father Jack Hardaway officiating. At this time, masks will be required during the service and provided for those who need them. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Grace Episcopal Church of Anderson and/or The Clear Cell Sarcoma Foundation (Sara's Cure), www.clearcellsarcoma.org.
