Dorothy Tuchscherer Obituary

Dorothy Mary Tuchscherer
September 18, 1918 - July 22, 2022
Hilton Head, South Carolina - Dorothy passed away peacefully in Hilton Head, SC on July 22, 2022, two months shy of 104. Born on September 22, 1918, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Henry and Dora Wilpolt. She attended Kaukauna High School (Kaukauna, WI) and Lawrence University (Appleton, WI).
Dorothy loved to sing and recorded "I'm Shooting High" with the Tom Temple
Orchestra at the age of 17. She married the love of her life, Konrad H. "Tuch"
Tuchscherer on November 22, 1941 and together had three sons, Tim, Jim, and Mike.
They began their married life in Seattle, WA and moved to Neenah, WI while their sons grew up. Afterward, they moved to Ephraim, WI, Lake Wylie, SC, and Sister Bay, WI. With Tuch's passing, Dorothy moved to Hilton Head, SC.
Dorothy loved her family deeply and fiercely. She loved her friends, meeting people wherever she went, and traveled to many countries with the "Fearsome Foursome" (a group of friends from Neenah, WI). Dorothy had an incredible spirit and was charming, enthusiastic, encouraging, competitive, tough, and independent - all at the same time. She had an incredible eye for design and fashion and shared this keen insight with family, friends, and clients alike. She loved golf and tennis, which she played well into her nineties, as well as bridge, with her last hand played just a few weeks ago. To all of us, she was an extraordinary example of how to live and love to the fullest.Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Konrad T. Tuchscherer (Mary), H. James Tuchscherer, Michael E. Tuchscherer (Kathleen), ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and her niece and travel companion, Nancy Noie Thompson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Konrad H. "Tuch" Tuchscherer, daughter-in-law Michele Cotter Tuchscherer, sister Adele Noie, and brother Ralph Wilpolt.
At Dorothy's request, there will be no service. Our family would like to thank her
granddaughter, Gretchen Tuchscherer, for the devotion and care she so selflessly gave her grandmother, and the staffs at The Seabrook Retirement Community, The Fraser Health Center (both Hilton Head, SC) and Hospice Care of the Lowcountry
(Bluffton, SC).

My mother lived at Seabrook until August 2020, and we routinely shared a dinner table or happy hour with Dorothy and some of the other ladies. Dorothy was incredibly engaging and witty, and clear of mind, for 102 years old at the time. She was amazing. My favorite memory was her outfits and accessories-- she was gorgeously put together every time -- straight out of a Talbots catalogue!

As owners of a small. Sines in Hilton Head, we were blessed to meet and get to know Dorothy over several years. An amazing spirit and woman of substance. We will miss her energy and kindness.
