Ginny Agah Obituary

Ginny Agah Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia "Ginny" L. Agah, a resident of Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 24 Pope Avenue (HHI). The family will greet friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory, 4 Cardinal Road on Hilton Head. Ginny Agah was born March 7, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA to Mr. George Philip and Mrs. Rosella Renard. She married Dr. Manoochehr "Manny" Agah on November 16, 1963. The couple had recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. Ginny passed away peacefully at Hilton Head Hospital on December 29, 2017. Ginny received her Registered Nursing degree from the St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She worked as a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh where she and Dr. Agah met. They relocated to Detroit and Farmington Hills, MI where they lived for nearly 40 years. Having vacationed in Hilton Head since the late 1970's, they retired here full-time in 2003. Ginny and Manny loved living in Sea Pines and being members at Belfair in nearby Bluffton. Ginny enjoyed walks on Tower Beach, gardening, shopping for her grandchildren, cooking and baking, and playing mahjong with her friends. She welcomed everyone into her home with warmth, generosity, and enthusiasm. Ginny was always the last to bed and first to rise, putting others' needs before hers. Her love and kindness will be greatly missed. Ginny is survived by her spouse Manny, her children and their spouses: Michael (Angela) of Los Gatos, CA; James (Wendy) of Westport, CT; Mark (Kim) of Atlanta, GA; and Shireen (Nima) Yadollahpour of Weymouth, MA. Ginny loved visiting and spending time with her eight grandchildren: Rachel, Luke and Nolan (CA); Alexandra and Devin (CT); Anthony (GA); Mina and Nasreen (MA). Ginny has two brothers currently residing in Pennsylvania, George Philip Renard and John William Renard. She was preceded in death by her younger brother David Renard. Over the last few years, Ginny suffered from vascular dementia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Memory Matters, P.O. Box 22330, Hilton Head, SC 29925-2330. Memory Matters serves dementia-affected participants and families in Beaufort and Jasper Counties in South Carolina.
