Bowling Green, Ohio - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father Dr. Lester G. Phares who passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025 at the age of 94. He was born March 3, 1931 in Elizabeth, New Jersey and grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. He graduated from Purdue University and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. He later earned his doctorate in psychology from The University of Pennsylvania and went on to teach at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He had a long career as an industrial psychologist and maintained a private consulting practice in Freehold, New Jersey. Later in life he returned to teaching as an associate professor in the College of Business at Mary Washington University in Virginia. He was a long-time resident of Manalapan, New Jersey, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Glen Allen, Virginia before moving in with his son Keith in Bowling Green, Ohio. Lester loved all things art, music and history. A true Renaissance man who never stopped in his quest for knowledge. He had a wicked sense of humor, travelled the world, always enjoyed a good scotch and loved a big bowl of ice cream. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Irene Phares, his brothers Harold Phares Jr and Kenneth Phares and great-grandchildren Greyson and Rylee Panecki. He is survived by his children, Christine Lenox and her husband Jeff, Glen Phares and his partner Nora Ward, Keith Phares and his wife Katy, his grandchildren Caitlyn and husband Adam, Alexandra and husband Tim, Cameron and husband Josh, Mackenzie, Sean, Patrick and Molly as well as great-grandchildren Nora and Cooper. He is also survived by his loving long-time partner MaryAnn Popper. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
