Lucinda Shaw Obituary

Lucinda Shaw
November 20, 1948 - March 8, 2021
Callawassie Island, South Carolina - Cindy Shaw 72 passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021 surrounded by her husband, Pete, and her children, Michael Shaw and Lisa Hunter.
Born Lucinda Claire Heitz on November 20, 1948 in Binghamton, N.Y. to E. William and Ruth Heitz. Cindy, her brother John and sister Cheri, moved with their parents to California and back again to New York. Cindy married Pete Shaw in Boca Raton FL and answered IBM's call for 11 relocations including assignments in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore over the next 27 years. Cindy was an avid adventurer, with endless curiosity about the world around her. She embraced each relocation as an opportunity to make new friendships, explore new places, expand her culinary tastes & skills, and master new games and sports. Cindy often said her time in Asia was the highlight of her life. Leading tours into China with friends and relatives, safari in Kenya, wall (scuba) diving in the Philippines, elephant trekking in Tibet, house boating in Kashmir, shopping trips to India, Korea, and Thailand, and attending endless Japanese festivals.
At retirement, Cindy and Pete found paradise in Callawassie Island. Here, Cindy enjoyed spending time with her friends, kids and grandchildren: Stephan, Victoria, Billy, Emma, Chris and great grandchild Evaine. She was much loved, and will be very missed.

Cindy was a good friend for many years since we met in the 1970’s in Rochester, MN, through IBM transfers and on into our retirement in SC. In fact, the Shaws were responsible for our locating to beautiful Callawassie Island! Our deepest sympathy to Pete, Lisa, and your families!

My warmest condolences to you all. May you rest in peace Cindy and join a crew of beautiful souls already in heaven. To this day every time I put a duvet inside its cover I think of you. I have taught everyone in my family how to do it that way and every time I have said “Lisa’s mom thought me this way”... You live on in the hearts of all of those who love you and in all the little ways you have touched us.
