Mary Louise deVeer

Mary Louise "Lulu" deVeerMary Louise "Lulu" deVeer, 57, of Hilton Head Island, died Monday February 7, 2011, at her home in Sea Pines. She graduated from Skidmore College with a BA and an MA, Phi Beta Kappa. She obtained a law degree from Duke University, and was later appointed to the Board of Visitors of Duke Law School. She wrote episodes for LA Law and Head of the Class, and wrote an original screen play: Bulls and Bears, which aired on television briefly. She was one of the first woman partners of Merrill Lynch, and later ran Debt Capital Markets desks at CS First Boston, and Lehman Brothers. Lulu held a pilots license, was an avid golfer and skier, was on the varsity UCLA tennis team, an expert pianist, and was fluent in several languages. She is survived by her husband Robert deVeer; sons, Kipp and Britt deVeer, Will Woodbridge, and John Leaf; and a daughter Connie Leaf; a brother Willy Cellucci and a sister, Connie Borde. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 12, 2011, at 10:30 AM, at The Church of the Cross in Bluffton.
