Michael Moore Hellman, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on December 5, 1937, he was the son of Dr. Louis M. Hellman and Ernestine Crummel Hellman.

Known to many as Mike, he spent twelve formative years at Friends Quaker schools in Baltimore and Long Island, New York. His Quaker education left a lasting imprint, nurturing in him a lifelong sense of fairness, humility, and a deep commitment to serving others.

Mike earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and remained a loyal and enthusiastic "Big Green" supporter throughout his life.

Mike held leadership roles in manufacturing at Procter & Gamble and later served as Vice President of Manufacturing for all Estée Lauder products. He went on to work as a financial analyst with Merrill Lynch.

Deeply committed to his community, Mike frequently served as treasurer for local organizations, thanks to his sharp mind and love of numbers - qualities that also made him a master bridge player. A dedicated community leader, he served as president of several organizations, including Sea Pines Country Club, CSA, and ASPPO, and was the 17th Hole Manager for the Heritage golf tournament for many years. A faithful member of St. Luke's Church, he actively participated in numerous committees and mission trips, and helped build homes through Habitat for Humanity.

In 1959, Mike married his college sweetheart, Connie Eadie. They shared 65 years of love and partnership, living in and traveling to many wonderful places throughout their life together.

He was the proud and loving patriarch of a large family, including four children, Deborah (Bill), Timothy (Tanya), Jennifer (Neal), Elizabeth (Andrew); seven grandchildren, Megan, Stephen (Sara), Taylor, Max (Casey), Stephanie (Jonathan), Chase, Eleanor; and one great-grandchild, Cameron.

Mike was known for his warmth, humor, and welcoming spirit. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, often greeting people by name, even if it wasn't always the right one. His generosity, kindness, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He will be remembered always and missed dearly.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at St. Luke's Church on Friday, June 27th, at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to Memory Matters, an organization dedicated to supporting those affected by memory loss, Hospice Care of the Lowcountry (Mirasol Health), or St Luke's Missions.

Mike and I worked together at Estee Lauder for a few years and shared our P& G and Ivy League backgrounds.
We lost touch with each other after we moved to the west coast but when I recently heard about his passing, it made me remember how Mike was such a consummate executive and an all around good guy
I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Mike at the Sea Pines Country Club for many years. He was truly one of the greatest examples of leadership and professionalism that I ever worked with in my 40 year career. We also developed a great friendship and his kindness and caring truly were unsurpassed. He exuded love and pride for Connie and his family. Mike was the kind of person you never forget regardless of time. I left Hilton Head Island 8 years ago after 34 years and moved to the Florida Keys. For some reason I thought of Mike today and discovered his obituary on line which made me very sad. However, I know he and Allan Miller are up there devising some kind of plan to do something spectacular! Rest easy my friend. Your presence will be missed and the world a little dimmer. My deepest condolences to you, Connie, and your family.

We have lost a good friend and a wonderful human being. Mike always left you feeling better regardless of the situation. He was an exemplary family man, a wise business partner, a so-so golfer, and just a nice guy to be with. Combined with a fabulous wife and a friendly family, he was dynamite. We will miss him so but carry on our love and admiration with Connie and family.
