All of us will miss Mike - I only wish I'd seen him more recently and that my kids had a chance to meet him. I will always remember Mike as he was when James and I visited him for the Water Festival all those years ago (at least ten years ago!) Somebody had a birthday that week and I remember watching Mike make Frogmore stew in a HUGE stockpot. We had a great time during that weekend - a lot of deep discussion and bonding. I clearly remember how Mike's dedication to family came through in everything he did. I'm proud that he was my cousin and although I didn't see him recently, I will miss him.

Although I knew Mike for only a short time, his love, caring, and kindness has forever touched my heart. I am very fortunate that I had the opportunity to join in the celebration this weekend. He was a wonderful man with a beautiful heart. His visit to this planet was much too short.

I cannot tell you all how sad I am for you all. I remember fondly the times we all spent together, that glint in Mike's his eye before he did something to us, and the laugh that always followed! He helped my mother after Hurricane Hugo, and I will never forget his kindness and generosity.

Nancy, Paige, Mead and Kristin,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You guys have been a part of our BMH family for so many years. Mike left a little piece of himself everywhere he went. I remember how thoughtful that was to donate a rocking chair to our nursery when Krisitin was a premie so the parents could rock their babies.
Nancy--I know Mike went to heaven still wondering if I really took pictures of him in the Operating Room. (smile)

I am sad to hear of the loss of my friend, Angela and I are praying that you find peace in these troubled times. I remember when I first met Michael he looked at our old house and said "I will help you work on that house if you let me sleep in that barn" Michael was my kind of person. Nancy, when Angela started at BMH she said she had found a new friend and I had to meet her husband, she allways enjoyed the walks after work. Put your faith in the Lord for he made us great, why would we want to be any thing less. Remember the good times but look forword to the new times.
Come out to the farm and we will all go for a long walk after a good meal.

Even though we don't see you too often, you can bet that just about anyone you've ever known will be there for you. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that you have many, many shoulders to cry on.
Paige & Mead probably do not remember me. It was so long ago that I babysat them! Paige was so adorable and Mead was a little terror. :) (He was just a normal little boy, scaring the babysitter) I hear he has grown up quite well. But they sure stuck in my memory. And your chocolate chip cookies were the best!

May God bless you and your family. I loved Mike like a brother because of his sincere kindness and generosity. He never asked for anything but was always willing to give. He told me several months ago that he had cancer but typical of his character, never told me anything that would indicate how sick he was. I happen to meet him that day in the Library parking lot as he was feeding quarters into expired parking meeters for people whom he did not know. Considering the man, that did not at all seem unusual to me. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

I was crushed to learn of Mike's death. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and had a brief conversation with him. He asked me to stop by and visit him sometime but I didn't get the chance. Who would have ever thought the laughter would stop? I hope you take comfort in the words of all who knew him. He was a beautiful person and always brought happiness into the lives he touched. Whenever we were in the presence of Mike, we cherished every minute. He was captivating just giving us the run down of what was going on in his life. He was the most caring man, he had unconditional love for his family, no matter what. He will always be remembered with a smile followed by a short chuckle! What a character he was. These words seem so lame; not nearly good enough for such a wonderful human being. Thank you for all the times you had our daughter in your home.
