April 3, 1936 - July 15, 2024
Beaufort, South Carolina - Nellie Jain Ayers McGuigan, 88, widow of Richard McGuigan, of Beaufort, SC, died Monday, July 15, 2024 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Anderson Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10:00am in Beaufort National Cemetery.
Mrs. McGuigan was born on April 3, 1936 in Pulaski, VA. She is the daughter of the late Robert Lee Ayers and Bessie Eads Ayers.
Surviving is one daughter, Sheila A. Boman(Keith); two brothers, Sonny Ayers and Gary Ayers(Deana); one sister, Joyce Akers(Buddy); one sister in law, Carol Cucinotta; three grandchildren, Dallas (Jacey), Rachel, Rebekah, and one great grandchild, Elijah. She is also survived by her dear friends Travis Polk and Cathy Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Mike McGuigan, two brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the charity of their choice.

Mom I love and miss you bunches! You pulled a fast one on us and slipped away before we were ready (are we really ever ready). I will always be in awe of your willingness to give, love and nurture your family, friends, and complete strangers with every bit of your being. You will always be my hero! Although my heart is broken, I will move forward and live my best life because I know that is all you ever wanted for me! Thank you for all your sacrifices, support, guidance, laughter and love! As her nurse during her final hours, I remember thinking what a wonderful patient I had. We bonded strongly and it felt as if she was my own family. Saying I did everything I could to get her back would be an understatement. Much love and condolences to family.
