Raleigh Milner Obituary

Raleigh Wayne MilnerRaleigh Wayne Milner, 64, husband of Beverly Petitpas Milner, of Beaufort, SC, unexpectedly passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013. Wayne was born in Beaufort, SC on September 18, 1949 to the late James and Nila Fay Milner. He was a member of Community Bible Church and retired from the US Navy. He was also a member of Beaufort Harmony Lodge #21, AmVets, Beaufort Shag Club, Beaufort Car Club, and the Loggerhead South Association. He grew up in Beaufort, a town he loved, and his family was always eager to hear stories of his adventures on the Beaufort River. He enjoyed sharing his fondness of the low country with his children and grandchildren and was happiest when out on the boat enjoying it with family and friends. However he will be most remembered as someone who loved people and serving them; he did not know a stranger. With his vast knowledge and great advice, so many people turned to him for help, and he was always eager to lend a hand. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Beverly; are three daughters, Yvette Anderson and husband Merritt of Lorton, Virginia, Yvonne Nail and husband Chuck of Chandler, Arizona and Angela Fry and husband Todd of Scottsdale, Arizona; two sisters, Patricia Long and husband Donald of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Faith Soluri and husband Tom, Sr. of Wilmington, North Carolina and seven grandchildren. The family will receive Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10:30am in The Baptist Church of Beaufort with interment in Beaufort National Cemetery with military honors. Proud of his country and those who served it, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 12, P. O. Box 392, Port Royal, SC 29935 or Wounded Warriors, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.

We went to the beach and surfed together, graduated from BHS and then we both joined the Navy. Decades later we met again when you and Bev built your house across the street from us. We cut down trees, worked on cars and shrimped. I miss you brother, you were my best friend. I'll never forget you.
