Robert Ovens Obituary

Robert Ovens
March 3, 1950 - July 23, 2022
Bluffton, South Carolina - Robert D. Ovens, 72, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away on July 23rd.
Rob graduated from Willoughby South High School in 1968 and immediately volunteered to serve with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his honorable service Rob continued serving the public as a patrolman and a detective with the Willoughby Hills Police Department in the city of Willoughby Hills, Ohio for 26 years. Rob retired from the police department after a career of public service proudly wearing badge number one. Post-retirement, Rob and his beloved wife of 27 years moved to Bluffton, South Carolina where he lived his dream of living in the south and working on the water. He spent his retirement exploring the waters surrounding Beaufort County and living his life to the fullest with his friends and family alike.
Rob is survived, loved, and always remembered, by his wife Carol Ovens of Bluffton. His children; Meredith Ovens of Eastlake, Ohio, Robert (Lindsay) Ovens of Charleston, South Carolina, and Jennifer Miklavic of Mayfield Village, Ohio. His grandchildren Vaile Kelly and Ansley Nora. His sister Elizabeth (Mark) Kennedy of Littleton, Colorado, brother David (Toni) Ovens of Leroy, Ohio and nephews Andrew and Nicholas Ovens. Too many to note are his friends and the numerous lives touched throughout Rob's full life.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ann Ovens (Murphy).
A memorial service for Rob will be announced at a later date to friends and family.

I can feel your spirit in the house, watching over us. I can see you as you go through your normal routine. Your life ended too quickly yet I am forever blessed with your love. Your guidance and support helped shape me into the woman I've grown to be. Your strength was an anchor that I will continue to hold. Captain of our family, First Mate for the lowcountry, Marine for our nation, my second Dad. Rest In Peace and Thank You, for everything.
