Sarah "Sally" Gray Pringle
April 26, 1931 - January 29, 2023
Beaufort, South Carolina - Sarah "Sally" Gray Pringle, wife of the late Wyatt B. Pringle, Sr. died peacefully in Beaufort surrounded by her family. Sally was born April 26, 1931 in Norfolk, Virginia, a daughter of George Turner and Frances Baker Gray. She spent the first twenty-four years of her life in Norfolk; attended schools there and graduated in 1953 from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia. Following graduation, Sally taught school and was employed by the Department of Adjustive Services of the Norfolk school system to administer aptitude tests in the schools.
In 1955, Sally married Army First Lieutenant Wyatt Pringle who was stationed in Norfolk during the Korean War. After marriage, they moved to Wyatt's hometown of Beaufort, SC where they lived happily for fifty years until Wyatt's death in 2005. Sally was active in many community projects in Beaufort and served on many boards including that of Historic Beaufort Foundation and Beaufort Open Land Trust. Sally was past president of Friends of the Beaufort Museum and a member of the City of Beaufort Parks and Trees Advisory Commission. She was a longstanding member of the Clover Club and many other local organizations. Active in her church, Sally was past president of St. Helena Episcopal Church women, past chairperson of the Fall Bazaar and former head of the St. Helena Spring Tour of Homes. Later in life, Sally found great joy in organizing weekly visits offering communion, bible study and music to nursing home residents.
Sally felt greatly blessed to have lived most of her days in a town she loved, where she raised three wonderful children; and never took for granted the glory of the sun rising over the marsh or the beauty of a Beaufort sunset. She felt especially blessed at her death to have her two daughters live near her in Beaufort and her son nearby in Bluffton. Sally's family was the great joy of her life. "The fruit of the Spirit is Love" Galatians 5:22
