Scribner L. Fauver Scribner L. Fauver of Beaufort, SC passed away on June 6, 2018 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann Babbitt Fauver, sister Mary Lee Merrill, brother Lewis Benjamin Fauver, son Scrib and his wife Susan, son Cole, daughter Grace, and grandchildren Olivia, Margaret, and John. He was born on June 1, 1931 in Elyria, Ohio. Scrib attended Deerfield Academy, Dartmouth College, and Harvard Law School, and spent the next 45 years using his legal training and his generous spirit to serve his community. In 1963, he co-founded Lake Ridge Academy, an independent K-12 school in North Ridgeville, Ohio. He also co-founded the Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County, which now dedicates its over $136 million in assets to enriching the lives of those living and working in Lorain County, Ohio. From 1969-1974, he served on the Elyria City Council, and from 1975-1978 he served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. He was a 58-year member of the Rotary Club, an organization whose mission mirrored his own: to make the world a better place by taking action on its most persistent challenges. His lifetime of community service was recognized in 1999, when Scrib received the Heart of Ohio Distinguished Citizen Award. For all his civic achievements, he was above all a man who loved nothing more than celebrating his beloved children and grandchildren. He was a well-travelled, well-read family man who gave more than he took. A memorial service will be held at the Sea Island Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 9 at 3:00, reception to follow. He will be buried in Elyria, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations will support the Fauver Family Ataxia Research Fund.
