Adelaide F. Watkins

Volunteer at Melrose Library, Senior CenterMELROSE - Mrs. Adelaide F. (Smiddy) Watkins, 95 years, of Melrose and formerly of Point of Pines in Revere, died Thursday, February 8, 2008 in a Melrose nursing home. She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary F. (Flaherty) Smiddy. She was raised in the Point of Pines section of Revere. In addition to Revere schools, she was a graduate of Marycliff Academy of Arlington, class of 1930. She lived in Revere most of her life and in Melrose since 1980.Mrs. Watkins was a licensed real estate salesperson and a floral designer. She also volunteered at the Melrose Library and the Melrose Senior Center.She is survived by four nieces; Mary Often of Gilbert, AZ, Dr. Monica Smiddy of New York City, Stephanie MacGregor of Beverly and Elizabeth Smiddy of Fernandina Beach, CA. She is the mother of the late Thomas Watkins. Sister of the late Thomas M. and Paul E. Smiddy and aunt of the late Joseph Smiddy.Service Information: Her memorial mass will be held on Saturday, June 21st at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 579 Boston Street, Lynn.
