Local business ownerSAUGUS - Mr. Andrew Sofronas age 72, of Saugus, died Sunday July 10, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was taken after suffering an accident at his home. He was the husband of Crysoula (Georgakopoulos) Sofronas, his wife of 44 years.Born and raised in Kalamata Greece, he was the son of the late Sotirios and Angeliki (Stasinopoulos) Sofronas. He came to Lynn at the age of 15 and has lived in Saugus since 1977.Mr. Sofronas was the owner of several businesses in Lynn and Saugus. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons Sotiris "Steve" Sofronas and his wife Kelly and Konstantinos "Charlie" Sofronas and his wife Angela, all of Wakefield, four grandchildren Andreas, Nikolas, Andreas, and Crysoula, two sisters Anna Mikedis and her husband George, of Saugus, and Georgia Sklikas and her husband Panagiotis, of Kalamata, Greece, his mother-in-law Evdokia Georgakopoulos, a brother-in-law Dimitrios Georgakopoulos and his wife Dina, and his sisters-in-law Sofia Kokkinos and her husband Panagiotis, Effie Zorbas, Vetta Manikas and her husband Dimitrios, all of Athens, Greece, 4 nieces Angela Mikedis, Irene Stefanides, Rania Sklikas, and Angela Karnouskou, as well as many nieces and nephews in Greece.Service Information: His Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Solimine Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home 426 Broadway (RTE129), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hour's Friday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church Restoration Fund 54 So. Common St. Lynn, MA 01902.
