Lynn - Mrs. Anthi (Stathi) Dimitrakopoulos, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Peter Dimitrakopoulos, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Greece, she was the daughter of the late Nikolaos and Vasiliki Stathi. The dash between Anthi's date of birth and death was full of love and life well lived. She fell in love and risked all; leaving her parents and siblings behind in Greece to come to America in 1972 with her husband and love Peter. They settled in Lynn, where she became a devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Anthi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (yiayia), and sister. She was a constant support to her husband in his tailoring business including Mr. Peter's Men's Store in Lynn. She also worked as a school lunch aide for over a decade in the Lynn Public Schools, particularly at the Connery School, where she cherished her time with her colleagues and the children she served.
She loved her trips to Greece with the kids to visit family and have her fill of frapedes, bougatsa and all other desserts. She loved watching her Greek soap operas and lovingly accepted she was an Olympiakos widow if the game was on.
She always found time for her grandchildren, whether that was attending football or baseball games or watching dance recital videos.
In addition to her husband, Peter, she leaves behind her daughter, Roula Dimitrakopoulos Kakouros and her husband Frank of Ajax, Ontario, Canada; her son Aris Dimitrakopoulos and Melissa Luciano of Nahant; and her cherished grandchildren, Peter and Niko Dimitrakopoulos, and Angeliki Kakouros, who brought her endless joy.
She is also survived by her siblings, Olga Pappas, Athanasios Stathis, and Aggeliki Stefanou, all of Greece, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Service Information: Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9am-10AM, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 So. Common Street, Lynn, MA 01904.
