Crossville, TN and Formerly Of Lynn, MA - Charles J. "Chuck" Gheringhelli, Jr., age 66, passed away on August 3rd, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lynn, MA on June 9, 1959, Chuck was a son of the late Charles J. Gheringhelli, Sr. and Dorothea (LeBlanc) Gheringhelli. Chuck grew up on Sluice Pond, where he enjoyed swimming and fishing. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1977. He went on to receive an associate's degree from North Shore Community College and a bachelor's degree from Salem State College. Chuck worked at various jobs as a quality control inspector.
In 1985, following in his father's footsteps, he joined the Lynn Fire Department. In 1988, he was awarded Lynn Firefighters Local 739 Firefighter of the Year, for his actions in helping save a trapped woman from a house fire. After 30 years of service, he and his wife retired to Crossville, Tennessee.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed summers camping and hiking up the White Mountains, and skiing down them in the winter. He also enjoyed snow shoeing in Lynn Woods and walking the beach. Chuck will always be remembered for his laughter and enjoyment with everyone he met. He will be sorely missed.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years Laureen MacBradaigh, his son Charles "CJ" Gheringhelli III and his wife Jennifer, and his granddaughter Gianna Gheringhelli; his loving siblings, Susan Bastarache and her husband Donald, Judith Harrington and her husband Michael, John Gheringhelli, Thomas Gheringhelli and his wife Ann and Marie McDermott and her husband Raymond; his cherished brothers-in-law Jack Grenga, Jeff Grenga, Blake Anthony, Dr. Michael Ellis, and Shane Webster and his sisters-in-law Sheri Giargiari Anthony, Julie Grenga Ridgeway, Jennifer Grenga, and Claudia Grenga Ellis; and several nephews and nieces. Chuck also leaves behind many close friends who he loved like family.
Service Information: A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025 in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St., Lynn at 11a.m. Burial will be in the Lynn Firemen's Relief Association Lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday from 9-10:30a.m. at the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn.
