Peabody - Constantinos P. "Charles" Gouros, 67, of Peabody, died peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 33 years to Fotini (Pyromalli) Gouros.
Born and raised in Australia to the late Panagiotis and Katerina Gouros, Charles moved to the U.S. when he was 8 years old. He grew up in Lynn and, after living in New York and Miami, eventually settled in Peabody, where he lived happily for 29 years. After graduating from Lynn Classical High School, he attended North Shore Community College, where he attained his associate degree in aviation. He then continued his education at Southern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
Charles also became a certified commercial pilot and a certified flight instructor with single- and multi-engine instrument ratings. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command. After his service, he worked for American Airlines subsidiary American Eagle and Envoy Air, where he reached the position of Captain and IOE Instructor.
Charles' greatest ambition was to become an airline pilot, and in achieving his dream, he also had the privilege of flying the inaugural flight from Miami direct to the country of Dominica. In the final few years of his career, Charles worked as a simulation instructor, teaching and training new pilots.
He loved to fly and travel with his family, enjoyed sunbathing on the beach in Florida, and spent summers in Greece with his loved ones. Charles was also an avid golfer who enjoyed building model planes in his spare time. He was a man full of love and compassion who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Charles was a devoted husband and father, leaving behind his wife, Fotini; his son, Panagiotis Gouros; and his daughter, Sophia Katerina Gouros. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Sophia and Yiannis Pyromalli; his brother-in-law, Kostas Pyromalli, and his wife, Eleni, and their son, Yiannis; his many cousins, nieces, and nephews; as well as his sister, Demetra Migos, and her family.
Service Information: A funeral service for Charles will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 S. Common St., Lynn, followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visitation will be held in the church prior to the service from 9–10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
