Edward Tirrell Obituary
1948 - 2024
Swampscott - Edward C. Tirrell, 75, of Swampscott, MA, passed away on June 4, 2024. He was born on September 14, 1948, in Brockton, MA.
Edward, known to many as Terry, was the Executive Director of Pathways, Adult Education, and Training for more than a decade. His career was dedicated to assisting public housing tenants, adult learners, and English language learners to achieve economic self-sufficiency. He worked tirelessly on behalf of others throughout his career.
In his free time, Edward enjoyed walking on the beach, reading, and discussing politics. He found great joy in vacationing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, immersing himself in the local culture despite speaking limited Spanish.
He is survived by his sisters Linda Sinuc of Cotuit, MA, Delmar, NY, Sarah Tirrell-Wysocki (David) of Canterbury, NH, brother William Tirrell of Dania, Florida, daughters Jaime Tirrell Hassey (Chad) of Dorchester, MA, Nora Tirrell (fiance Dan Hale) of Nashville, TN, grandson Drinan Rain Hassey of Dorchester, MA, Uncle Benjamin Nicholls of Plymouth, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward Presby Tirrell Jr. and Nicky (Adelaide) Murray. He will be sorely missed by friends Sarah Hesch, Juana Perez, Peter and Meg Cherchia, Don Gillis, and so many others and those lives he touched through his work, generosity and kindness.
A graduate of Brockton High School and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Edward leaves behind a legacy of dedication to education and community service.

I was excited to see that Edward lived just a few minutes from my son Andrew Tirrell whom I believe he is related to and very saddened to learn that Edward had passed. He sure did a lot of Humanitarian acts of kindness. Andrew has a similar passion to make the world a better place. My son's grandparents were Robert E Tirrell and Arlene Rice of Brokton, MA. So sorry for your loss.
