Fred Santangelo Obituary
1964 - 2024
Melville, NY - Fred J. Santangelo, Jr., age 59, of Melville, NY, formerly of Lynnfield, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City from complications of leukemia. He was the husband of Heidy Santangelo, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of Fred and Gloria Santangelo and the brother of John Santangelo of Middleton; and the father of Jake, Josh and Jesse Santangelo. He was the son-in-law of Joel and Arlene Fishkind and the brother-in=law of Eric, Matthew and Scott Fishkind. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Fred graduated from Lynnfield High School in 1982 and continued his education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He majored in business and retailing. He moved to New York City, where he worked in the clothing industry for Lord and Taylor, Brooks Brothers, Bergdorf Goodman, John Stuart, Hugo Boss and John Varvatos where he was a Senior Vice President. He traveled extensively to Italy and France in search of the finest fabrics. He enjoyed his work and had a long career in his field.
Fred was an avid sports fan of all Boston teams, especially the New England Patriots. The only teams he enjoyed more were the teams his sons played on, some of which he coached.
Service Information: Fred's funeral took place on Long Island at the Star of David Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 11, 2024. He was buried in Mount Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst, NY. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 177 Lynnfield St, Lynn from 5PM-8PM following the 4PM Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 17 Grove St, Lynnfield.
