Maureen E. Kelter "Mimi" Devaney

LYNN - Maureen E. "Mimi" Kelter Devaney, age 47, of Lynn, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the wife of Lawrence Devaney, and the daughter of Mary (Peters) Kelter Strom, and the late John Kelter.Born and raised in Lynn, Mimi lived in Lynn all her life. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1985, Castleton State College in Vermont, and Salem State College, Class of 1992. She lived a passionate and full life. She was an avid skier, and taught ski school at Mt. Cranmore in New Hampshire for many seasons. She enjoyed spending time in North Conway. Mimi was a union representative for the Lynn Teacher's Union. She loved children and was devoted to the schoolchildren in Lynn, where she taught 5th grade at the Drewicz School for the past 24 years.Besides her husband, Larry, and her mother, Mary, Mimi is survived by her two brothers, Michael P. Kelter and his wife Amie of Topsfield and their children, Haylie, Ally & Emmy Kelter, and John L. Kelter and his wife Erin of Danvers, and their children J.P., Colin and Kathryn Kelter. She also leaves her mother-in-law, Phyllis Devaney of Lynn; stepson, Justin Devaney of Lynn; niece, Ashley Devaney; sister-in-law, Maryann Devaney of Lynn; stepsisters, Paula Gagnon and her husband Kenny, Lisa Flint and her husband Donald and Julie Silva and her husband Jack; and a stepbrother, Robert Strom. She was the stepdaughter of the late Nils Strom and the daughter-in-law of the late Lawrence P. Devaney Sr.Service information: Her funeral will be held from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, on Monday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
