Thomas Lucas Obituary

Thomas Albert "Luke" Lucas, 46
1977 - 2024
Swampscott - Swampscott Police Officer, Thomas Albert "Luke" Lucas, age 46, of Swampscott, died on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Salem Hospital, following a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer. He was the beloved son of Nancy L. (Aschauer) Lucas of Plantation, FL and the late Anthony E. Lucas. Born in Hollywood, FL, in 1977, he was raised and educated in Hollywood and graduated from Hollywood Hills High School in 1995, where he played varsity football. He went on to play football at Dean Jr. College and later attended Salem State College. Luke was sworn in as a Police Officer for the Swampscott Police Department in October of 2002 and was a member of the Swampscott Police Union, Local 417. An avid sports fan, he loved watching the Miami Dolphins, the Boston Red Sox and the Florida Marlins and helped coach his son's middle school football team. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed spending time at the beach and traveling to warm climates with his family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his sons and his pet cats and dogs.
In addition to his mother Nancy, Thomas is survived by his loving sons, Kyle and Dylan Lucas both of Swampscott and their mother and his former wife Julie (Feinberg) Lucas; his longtime partner Marisol Alejandro; his twin brother Anthony Lucas and his wife Karosla of Oakland Park, FL; his aunt and uncle Jennifer and John Ziegler and his beloved pets, Astro, Mr. Toots and Poo Bear.

I´m saddened to hear of Tom´s passing and glad we exchanged some messages in recent months. We graduated the 9th Municipal Police Officers Class at the Reading Academy in 2003. He was a great classmate and brought much needed humor to our 26-weeks of training. My wife, Mandy, attended Salem State with Tom as well. We both offer our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues at Swampscott PD.

I will never forget meeting you and dating you while we were at Salem State. You had your thick southern accent and charm. Always a gentleman and still one of the kindest humans I ever had the pleasure of knowing. You will never be forgotten.. Until we meet again

I was deeply saddened to hear the news! Although Luke(Tom) and I parted ways, we had many wonderful memories which I will forever cherish! Luke has and will always hold a special place in my heart and I am grateful for the time we spent together and all the things he did to make me and everyone around us smile. The dedication and hard work and all he did to ensure he was the best dad he could be was always beautiful to see him in action with his boys! He was a man with the biggest heart and wonderful smile!

Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time! To the family, if there is anything I can do to help support you in anyway, please let me know! Sending you all love, strength and comforting thoughts!
Love, Linda

You always helped lift my tender feet off the sharp rocks and out of the rapids, Tommy. All our memories, my son, will live in my soul. You are my can of cold (but nourishing) Spaghettio´s after a hurricane until the power is restored!
