Amelia Marez Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Amelia Marez, 78, of Pomona, CA. She was born on April 2, 1945 and she left us on August 16, 2023. Lovingly known to family and friends as "Emmy" or "Millie". She was born in Pomona, CA and raised in Chino, CA. She graduated from Chino High School in 1963 and joined the work field, which would eventually lead her to becoming a certified electronic assembler. In 1969 she married the love of her life and would reside in Pomona, CA., where they would raise their family. Her love of life, family and friends, created bonds that lasted a lifetime. She enjoyed reading, music, dancing and cooking. Considered a trivia buff, she was known for her witty movie quotes and quick personal catch phrases. Her impeccable sense of style, hair, and makeup was second to none. She was employed with companies such as AeroJet, where she would be promoted to the position of "Lead Lady", General Dynamics and JPL, to name a few. Her work ethics opened doors to the highly acclaimed aerospace industry. One of her greatest achievements was being a part of the electronic assembly team for the Space Shuttle. She was a modern day "Rosie the Riveter" of that era. After over 30 years of dedicated service in her profession, she graciously retired.Amelia is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Gabriel Marez, their two adoring children: son Gabriel Marez Jr., and daughter Denise Marez; her two sisters Feliz Ramirez and Dominga Centeno. She was preceded in death by her parents Simon and Maria Encarnacion Placencia, two brothers Martin Placencia and Frank Placencia, two sisters Carmen Anguiano and Antonia Negrete.Funeral services will be held at Todd's Memorial Chapel in Pomona, Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, with the Visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Catholic Mass at St. Madeline Catholic Church in Pomona, Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Interment, Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier at 1:00 PM.

Our family has lost such a treasured member. Millie was More of a "sister -in-law " to all of us. She was indeed a beloved sister! We shall miss you immensely, much more than words can ever say. So my dear family and friends, we will hold her in our hearts forever! We know you are with our heavenly Lord and our Virgencita Our Lady of Guadalupe, who you honored so humbly,! Rest in peace my dearest sister!
