James Bessant Obituary
Passed away peacefully on April 27, 2012 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Terry Bessant, son Brian Bessant of Montclair, daughter Renee Kurreck and her husband Michael Kurreck of Goleta, grandson Scott Kurreck, granddaughter Camille Kurreck, brother Edward Bessant of Upland, along with numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by sister Mollie Jo Fies.
"JB", as he was known by his many friends, worked for General Dynamics/Hughes Aircraft for 38 years as a design engineer. In his spare time he enjoyed working in real estate in the Sun City/ Wildomar area, and later studying genealogy. JB's family and friends will miss his many stories and sayings, no gathering was complete without at least a few of his tales! James's ancestors were some of the original settlers to the area; his great-great-grandfather Isaac Bessant left England and settled in San Bernardino in 1851, a fact commemorated on a plaque in front of the old county court house and the naming of Bessant Street. Another ancestor, Henry Cline, was a hangman in the California goldfields.
No services are planned, James' life will be celebrated in Redlands in June; comments posted to James's Facebook page will be appreciated. Contributions in memory of JB can be made to any favorite charity or the American Diabetes Association.
