MICHAEL HINKLE Obituary

A Senior Airman for the U.S. Air Force, passed into our Heavenly Father's arms on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, while serving his country as a Cyber Transport Systems Journeyman in Kuwait. He was assigned to the 28th Communications Squadron, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., and had been in the USAF since 2005. Michael, who was born in Valparaiso, IN, on November 24, 1986, called Corona, CA, his home. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Cynna Hinkle, and Teena and Bob Jakowinicz; brothers, Brandon and Jonathan; sisters, Janae, Laikyn, Lexy and Emma; his grandparents, John Hinkle, James and Ruth Snodgrass, and Shelia Macquarrie; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and nephew, Caleb. Michael loved his sports. From playing baseball as a child to soccer in an on base league and everything between, he always gave 100%. Michael also loved spending time playing his guitar, listening to music and what a "gamer" was he. From very early in his life, Michael had, and shared his love for God, his family and all of the many friends he had made. He was not only loved by his family and friends but also made lasting impressions on those who had the fortune to serve with him in the USAF. Michael's service to his country did not go unnoticed and will not soon be forgotten. He will be missed deeply until we see him again in Heaven. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held in Michigan, at Mt. Hope Congregational Church. Michael will be laid to rest with full military honors at Glen Eden Memorial Park. A California Memorial for Michael Hinkle II will be held on April 2, 2011, at 1 P.M. at Archibald Ranch Community Church in Ontario, CA, 13344 S. Archibald, the corner of Archibald and Chino Ave. The family has indicated that in lieu of flowers, they would welcome a donation be made to the Fisher House for Families of the Fallen at Dover AFB, who took care of them last week when they went to meet his transport plane from Kuwait for the dignified service transfer. http://www.fisherhouse.org/donate/

Mike, you will be sorely missed. In my 20 years of service in the US Air Force, I had never worked with nor supervised anyone as good as you. Always quick with a smile, and a laugh when we got tasked to work long hours, you complained like the rest of us, but did the job and got it done anyway. I always appreciated the fact that when I asked you to do something you did it first then asked why, and if it could've been done better the next time you explained to me why. To the family of Mike, there can never be enough words to express how sorry I am for your loss, I only knew Mike for a short time before I retired, but he is one I will never forget.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Sr.Am. Michael J. Hinkle our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Michael. And to Michael it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while deployed to Southwest Asia. No greater patriotism is shown than a man lay down his life in service to his country. Michael, you are a brave Air Force Warrior and a true Patriot. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Michael’s family and loved ones.

To the Hinkle family,

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Michael will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.
