Molly Scully Obituary

It is with deep sadness to share the passing of Maureen (MOLLY) Scully, 66, of Upland, CA on December 13, 2021 after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Edward (ED) and Katherine (Kate) Scully. Molly is survived by her brother Kevin, sisters Kathleen (Michael) Vietti, Colleen (Joe) Tristany, and Eileen (Steve) Williamson, 10 nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews, and "her man" of 12 years, Bill (Sir William) Fancher. Molly was born in Erie, PA on Oct. 13, 1955, the family moved to Ontario in 1963 and settled in Upland. She graduated from St. Joseph's School, Upland High School, moved to Kelso, WA, and then to Charlotte, NC. She returned to the Inland Empire in the early 90's to continue her education at Chaffey College and the University of Phoenix, graduating with honors in Health Administration. She worked in the Anesthesia Dept. at Kaiser Hospital, San Antonio Regional Hospital (SARH) where her mother had worked for 32 years. Molly worked as a Surgical Clerk, Med/Surg Unit Coordinator, Coder, and had been Cardiac Services Coordinator since 2006. She developed relationships with so many team members across all areas of the hospital. She was an avid hiker, a huge part of the 4URHealth Wellness Program at SARH, and inspired the founding of the 4URHealth Hiking Program. She helped plan the training schedule for each month, leading the hikes of increasing difficulty to finish in August with a climb of Mount San Antonio (Mt. Baldy). Molly and "her tribe" hiked the many wilderness areas in Southern California and frequently did the full moon hike up to the Mt. Baldy Notch to eat, drink, dance, and howl at the moon. Molly also spent much of her free time with Bill, traveling to Utah to explore the varied landscapes of that state or Cayucos, CA to walk the beach and get away for quiet evenings. They enjoyed many years together sharing a love for the outdoors, hiking, biking, exploring, but mostly time with each other. She loved to travel and had gone to a World's Fair, Europe, Central America, China twice, Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis, and Idaho for the total solar eclipse. Molly's kind and caring soul showed in her love of family, friends, coworkers, and all creatures great and small. She always had a kind and encouraging word for all, usually delivered with a sweet sense of humor and her beautiful smile. A celebration of her life will be on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at La Villa Bella, 792 W Arrow Hwy b, Upland, CA from 1:00-4:00pm. All family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to San Antonio Regional Hospital in her name.

Molly was my newly embraced sister of 8 years, my beautiful friend , my inspiration, my most perfect example, my close confidant , my amazing and most knowledgeable tribe leader, and the most selfless person I´ve ever met or had the blessing to have as a part of my life. I met Molly on one of our hiking trails as part of the 4 ur health program that she , Jennifer snd Mike at SARH started in 2014. I was drawn to Molly right away. I don´t know that I was as special to Molly as she was to me as she somehow filled a special
Place in everyone´s hearts and lives that she touched. I´m guessing that was Mollys gift. She always gave way more than she got and was the most selfless person I´ve ever known. She gave 1000% at San Antonio Regional Hospital inCardiology , she was the leader and originator of most hikes in the z4 ur health program at SARH snd at home she took on the loving caregiving role for her widowed father. I could go on and on and on and on with so many stories about how Molly changed or inspired change in every one´s lives that she touched. From her significant other to her brother, her 3 sisters, coworkers, friends, hikers and any trail biker or hiker in need of help, Molly touched all of us in her unique way. Molly was the perfect example of what we all should strive to be to each other in this world. Molly loved her family , her friends, the Doctors she worked so closely with, nature, the stars, howling at the moon , her feral cats she befriended , took care of , and through her own expense , neutered through her infinite kindness, Bills dog Katie and Bill, her significant other. Our "tribe" saw each other 3-4 times a week and until it was too personal and too difficult for Molly to be together, we just still loved, loved, cared and prayed for Us to be so blessed to have Molly with us in our lives, however God would allow. We miss Molly sooooo much and our lives snd hikes will never be the same. But Molly was a great teacher and she passed on to us so much knowledge and her great love of nature, the moon, stars and a prim instinct to howl at the moon. She was our favorite person and a joy in life that can´t be replaced . My love for Molly is immeasurable, irreplaceable and unforgettable. I love you sooo much Molly and will miss you for all my days.
