My deepest sympathy to the family of Coach Carroll. I had the pleasure of having Coach Tom influence my life for four years. His ethic and demeanor became a part of my own personal DNA and guided me through 4 years of high school, 4 years at a service academy, 28 years in the Marine Corps and 2 tours in Iraq. As I look back in my life's "rear view mirror" I recognize that his guidance has always been on the horizon of my life. The Damien community lost a great man -- but the impact he had on thousands of Spartan Men will echo into eternity. God's speed coach. /s/ Roger Garay '82 ([email protected])

Coach Carroll has been a lasting good memory from my years at St Anthony H.S. in the 1960's. I've thought of him often over the years. Back then he was humorous, caring, necessarily gruff, with an ever-present rarely lit, but always well-chewed, cigar. He was a good man. God bless him and his.

This was a tragic loss for the entire Damien Community. Coach was a pillar throughout the years, and will be dearly missed. My condolences to the entire family.
