ALFONSO FAVELA Obituary
July 24, 1962 – July 16, 2025
Alfonso Favela passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Born on July 24, 1962, in Mexicali, Mexico. Alfonso was the beloved son of Jose and Josefina Favela. He later moved with his parents and 15 siblings to Brawley, California, where he built a life rooted in love, family, and service.
Alfonso is survived by his loving wife, Sofia Guzman, and his former wife, Eustolia Favela. He leaves behind his children: Jose Alfonso Favela, Abel "Tony" Favela, Angel Favela, Adan Favela, Alejandro "Alex" Favela, Graciela "Chula" Favela, and many others who lovingly knew him as "Pops." His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Tyler, Elias, Luiz, Thomas, Nivea, Jayden, and many more who called him Grandpa. He is also survived by his siblings: Augustina Carbajal, Hector Favela, Raymundo Favela, Mirta Camarena, Irma Slater-Favela, Imelda Flores, Emilia Cano, and Abel Favela, along with countless friends made throughout his life.
Nearly 44 years ago, Alfonso began his career at Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo, now known as Innercare. Through dedication and leadership, he rose to become the Contractor Supervisor, overseeing multiple facilities across the Imperial Valley, Indio/Palm Springs, Riverside, Hemet, and Blythe.
A man known for his joyful spirit and infectious positivity, Poncho touched countless lives through his love of music and his gift for celebrating every occasion. He had a natural gift for drawing people in and truly loved being at the heart of every gathering. He was a guide, a mentor, a friend, and above all, a loving father and grandfather. His warmth, wisdom, and light will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Hidalgo Hall, 410 S. Cesar Chavez St, Brawley, CA 92227. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Frye Chapel, 799 S. Brawley Ave, Brawley, CA 92227.
May his memory be a blessing, and may his spirit live on in all who were touched by his kindness and love. Forever, "The Man, The Myth, The Legend."
