CARMEN PEREZ Obituary


Carmen Tabarez Perez, 91, originally from Calexico, California, passed away peacefully, from natural causes in Grand Junction, Colorado on February 9, 2021. She was born on September 26, 1929 to Manuel and Virginia (Guerra) Tabarez. Carmen lived most of her life in Calexico and moved to Colorado in her later years to live with her daughter Gloria. She entered the education field as an ESL teacher with the Neighborhood House in Calexico and then as a special education paraprofessional with Kepley School in El Centro and at Calexico High School. After retirement, she dedicated herself as a caregiver for both her parents for many years. Carmen enjoyed cooking, music, and spending time with family and friends. Many memories will be cherished by those who knew and loved Carmen. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Carmen Buzo and her brother, Emilio Tabarez. She is survived by daughter, Gloria (Faustino) Munoz; brother, Julian (Magdalena) Tabarez; sister, Virginia (Ezequiel) Martinez; sister-in-law, Elisa; granddaughter, Melissa (Rene) Cortina; grandsons, Michael Buzo and Isaac (Meghan) Munoz; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Caleb and Wesley; along with several nieces and nephews. Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, Carmen's funeral services will be private. Carmen will be joining her family who has gone before her at Mt. View Cemetery in Calexico, California. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
