CHRISTINA GONZALEZ Obituary

CHRISTINA R.

GONZALEZ

Nov. 18, 1944 – Nov. 12, 2024

Mrs. Christina R. Gonzalez (Chris), passed away peacefully, in her home, in the early hours of November 12, 2024, surrounded by her husband, Mac, and family. A memorial Mass of Celebration will be held at 9:30 a.m. on December 23, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Centro, CA.

Chris was born on November 18, 1944, to the late Joaquin and Sara Reclosado and was raised alongside her siblings Joaquin Jr. and Elisa. She was raised in Calexico and attended local schools.

Chris met Mac Gonzalez, in high school, in 1959 when they were still 14 years old. They spent the next 65 years together. They married on February 28, 1962 and had been looking forward to their 63rd wedding anniversary. They went on to have four children, Richard (Maritza), Sandy (John Urias), Tony (Evelyn, and Jimmy (Siul), all who survive her. They are also survived by their grandchildren, Melissa (Matt Reddon), Joseph, Rachel, Natalie, Madison (Esteban), Victoria, Zachary, Santiago, Ana Leah, and Amador, and great-grandchildren Mannix, Myles, and Sophia. Chris was preceded in death by granddaughter Margaret Kristina Urias and sister Elisa.

Chris was a blessing to so many people who she came to know her throughout her lifetime. She was a devout, joyful and loving catholic who spent some 40 years helping people in any way that she could. She spent 20 years working in doctor's offices ever since she was very young. People still remember her after all these years.

She later joined Mac in his Farmers Insurance Agency where she worked alongside her daughter and son. Although a little reluctant at first, she went on to have some of the most fulfilling years of her life there. She worked in Hospice for a brief time and it was there that she discovered her true calling in life. From that time on, she went on to help families in the most desperate time of their lives. She helped them with their pain of losing their loved one. She taught them to pray and trust in the Lord. She helped the sick one find acceptance, consolation and healing through the Lord. Her small corner office at the agency was always filled with people that were in need, or simply came in to talk to this wonderful woman. It was there, in that small corner office, that she thrived with the freedom to help anyone in need.

Chris is in Heaven now and we have no doubt she was received with open arms. You are home now, Chris, and "we love you more."

The family is grateful to all those who showered us with love, compassionate care, prayer, and support during Chris' illness.
