David Watts Obituary

DAVID WATTS

May 30, 1942- July 4, 2005


Dave passed into permanent retirement on July 4, 2005.
Born in Inglewood, California to Ernest and Imogene Watts, the family moved to Wellington, Kansas in 1953 where his mother's family resided. Dave was an Eagle Scout in his youth.
Dave joined the navy in May 1960 and was stationed in San Diego where he met his wife, Felipa. He was transferred to NAF El Centro in April 1968.
In 1970 he joined the California Highway Patrol and served Imperial County for over 28 years. Additionally Dave served his community by working as an EMT, teaching traffic school, and teaching various law enforcement classes at IVC. He was active in local sports, the Sunrunners Car Club, and was an active baseball memorabilia collector.
Dave was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family immensely.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, July 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Bros Mortuary in El Centro. Chapel services will be on Monday, July 11, at 9 a.m. at Hems Bros in El Centro. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
Dave is survived by his wife Felipa "Lou" Watts; daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Tom Gysi; grandson Thomas Gysi; son Vincent Watts and companion Kristie Davis; granddaughter Alyssa Watts; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Bill Dykeman; granddaughter Jessica Dykeman; grandsons William and Wesley Dykeman; daughter and son-in-law Christine and Robert Weekes; granddaughters Megan Martin and Kristen Weekes; grandsons Justin Martin and Tyler Garewal.
